Spanish and Deaf Coordinator

Laurie Willhouse

Laurie has been involved in ministry since she was 16 years old. She started out working in bus ministry, picking up and bringing children to Sunday School. She has also been involved working with those in the Deaf community, helping to interpret services into Sign Language. Laurie has had a burden for those in the Spanish speaking community since she was 9 years old.  She learned her foundation of the Spanish language from a neighbor. She continued studying Spanish for 6 years in school. In 1999, Laurie responded to the call to the mission field. One year later, she embarked on her first trip to Argentina. That trip sparked many other trips. She spent her time teaching bible studies, ministering to women, ministering to those who had been in situations of domestic violence, and ministering through drama.

In 2005, she felt the call to go to El Salvador to work with a medical clinic. That trip opened up multiple opportunities to travel and work with the medical clinic. Laurie traveled back and forth a total of 5 times working with the clinic staff. Upon returning to the United States, Laurie has continued to work in Spanish ministries. She has taught classes for the Christian Intervention Program (CIP), for individuals who have struggled with drug and alcohol addiction.

She is always providing transportation to church, interpreting the services in her local assembly, and teaching bible studies.
